Dear Terry and Mike,

How are you? We are doing great and now with the weather warming, I’m looking forward to more time outside with our boy.
He is fabulous and I am totally in love with him – and he’s so bonded with me it’s ridiculous. I can’t move without him readjusting and laying on my feet and he throws a fit when I put up the gate in the kitchen to go to my room for a minute. Yesterday, he circled around and took a running leap at it to try to get over!
I have actually just come off a 3-week period of being quite ill so I have not had the time or energy to really delve into the training but he’s a really good boy with lots of patience for me and I have kept him in his crate in my bedroom with me when I was at my worst a few days…at least we were together even though I was bedridden.
Nonetheless, he is certainly strong-willed and persistent. He is also fearless and very protective of me already – and he’s soooo smart. I have been working with him on the 5 basic obedience commands 3-4 times a week while I’ve been sick and he is learning so quickly. He is also getting his adult coat in and some teeth as well and I have seen an increase in his desire to chew but I have kept appropriate toys handy – including a kong that I stuff with peanut butter and freeze – he’s in heaven.
He also LOVES the snow and he and Scout played so much in our fenced in area during the cold – great for them but I think it’s why it’s taken me so long so get well!
I have a list of thoughts and questions and value your input so much so if you can indulge me a bit when you have the time, I’d love to hear from you either e-mail or phone call.....
I would love to bring him to you in the next few weeks for a road trip visit for you to see him!
Attached are a couple photos although I haven’t taken any since I’ve been sick. Hope to connect with you soon and thank you for letting us be his family – he’s amazing!!!!!
Regards,
Stephanie Doolin O'Dear
